Square Business

Like many of you, by day I’m a working professional. While being a blogger and a self-proclaimed socialite are far more fun, they don’t pay the bills… YET. I do sales for a living and like any other industry, you must look the part. For others to believe you’re successful, you must ‘look’ successful. The same goes for professionalism. Nothing irks me more than seeing people at work that are ill-dressed for their particular job. I won’t listen to anything they try to advise me on if their clothes are a mess at work. It sounds shallow, I know. But if you’re an expert, you MUST look the part.

Part of why people dress poorly at work is because of their idea of what does and does not fit that particular dress code. I don’t like the stuffy, old ideas of what business professional and business casual are. I take the basic components and I enhance them with my own personal style. For this look, I chose something that made me feel confident, pretty, and powerful. If your wardrobe doesn’t make you feel at least one of those things, it’s time to start tossing. I put this look together for my accomplices that always ask me what should they wear in a professional environment.
This look works because although form fitting, my dress is not skin tight. It’s knee-legnth showing minimal cleavage. Nobody is going to take you seriously in your bodycon, ‘do me baby’ dress at the office. With shoes, heels higher than 3 inches are frowned upon in the office but I believe you can get away with a 4 inch heel with no platform. Not an inch higher. My bag is sleek and large enough to carry my everyday work necessities. I kept my accessories simple as to be a non-distracting accent to my dress.
